The institute’s neuro team specializes in treating both adult and pediatric patients. As the only JCAHO certified Primary Stoke Center in the area, Florida Hospital serves as the preferred hospital for local emergency personnel responding to strokes. Thanks to a partnership with emergency medical services teams, we are able to start treatment before patients even reach the emergency room.

Patients requiring neurological care can count on the institute to respond with an experienced team of physicians and specially trained healthcare professionals backed by state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment facilities. The Neuroscience Institute’s Neuro Care Coordinator serves as a one-step resource for your visit, handling patient referrals, setting up appointments and providing information about the institute’s services and programs.

Children with neurological disorders are treated at Disney Children’s Hospital at Florida Hospital. Pediatric neurosurgeons are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to deal with neurological problems such as epilepsy, tumors, neurofibromatosis and other diseases that affect children.

As a leader in neurology and neurosurgery, the Neuroscience Institute offers patients the chance to participate in clinical trials that offer treatments that aren’t yet available to the public. Current areas of focus for these trials include acute ischemic stroke intervention, deep vein thrombosis prophylaxis, carotid artery narrowing treatment and artificial cervical disc replacement.
